Rashid Khan Re-Signs for Adelaide Strikers

Afghan player Rashid Khan has decided to extend his stay with the Adelaide Strikers for the upcoming season of the Big Bash League.

In preparation for the tenth season of the Big Bash League, the Adelaide Strikers has decided to re-sign Afghan player Rashid Khan. With that, Khan will play with the team for the fourth time.

Khan had his debut in the BBL in 2017. Today, he is counted as one of the six players of the Strikers who have been featured in 40 or more matches. Having taken a total of 56 wickets, he was ranked as the third-highest wicket-taker next to Ben Laughlin and Michael Neser. Aside from being one of the top wicket-takers, he has also managed to score 253 runs at a strike rate of 161.14.

Talking about his stay with the team, Khan says, ‘I'm so happy that I am able to play for the Strikers again in a big tenth season of the Big Bash, and I have loved this competition from the very beginning. The Strikers have been like a family to me since I joined them, and I am so thankful to the fans who have been supporting me and made me feel like Adelaide is my home’.

In response, Adelaide Strikers head coach Jason Gillespie says, ‘Rashid has been such a quality player and person for the city of Adelaide and the Strikers from the moment he arrived. We're thrilled his world-class bowling and exciting batting will continue to entertain our loyal fans, and we want to again be challenging for a second title when the tournament begins’.

Currently, Khan is still playing in the Indian Premier League where he is featured for the Sunrisers Hyderabad. As the IPL will end on November 10, Khan will be in preparation for the start of BBL 2020 on December 3. There, he will be a part of the league’s first match between the Adelaide Strikers and the Melbourne Renegades. To learn more about these teams and the league, visit Betwala.
