Shadman Islam suffered a wrist injury which resulted in the uncertainty of his inclusion to the Test squad against Pakistan.
Last Monday, January 27, Shadman Islam took an injection from a medical staff of Bangladesh Cricket Board and was told to get rest for one week.
Islam has been enduring the injury from a few months ago during a match for Bangladesh Cricket Board XI in the 2019 Dr (Capt) K. Thimmappiah Memorial Cricket Tournament in Bangalore.
After only playing two matches in the tournament, he was sent to fly back home. He was able to play two-match Test series in India which only caused for the wrist injury to recur.
Due to this, Islam wasn’t selected for the Bangladesh Cricket League because of the mentioned recurring injury. The Bangladesh Cricket Board announced that they will host the BCL as preparation for the upcoming first Test against Pakistan.
BCB also ensured the availability of national cricketers for the tournament. The BCL is scheduled to start from January 31.
Other than Islam, teammate, Imrul Kayes is also doubtful as an opening batsman against Pakistan. Kayes hasn’t recovered from his hamstring injury from the recently concluded Bangladesh Premier League.
