Bangladeshi player Soumya Sarkar is set to miss one-off Test and the first ODI match against Zimbabwe to get married on the 26th of February.
Soumya Sarkar has already filed a leave until the last day of February. The reason as to why he would leave the group temporarily is that he’ll finally get married to his girlfriend.
Last Thursday, Sarkar also shared a picture of him and his bride-to-be on his Facebook profile with the caption ‘coming soon’. Speculations about him getting married surfaced online but it was not confirmed until Sarkar actually filed a leave from Bangladesh Cricket Board.
His bride-to-be’s father said in an interview that they had all given their consent to the couple and that the wedding will take place between the agreement of the couple's parents.
In line with his leave, the 26-year-old player is set to miss out one-off Test and the first leg of the three-ODI series against Zimbabwe.
The Zimbabwe cricket team is expected to arrive in Bangladesh on the 15th of February and a two-day practice match is scheduled to happen on February 18-19. The actual lone Test match, on the other hand, will take place on February 22 in Dhaka. After that, the two teams will travel to Sylhet for the three-match ODI series and will return to Dhaka for the two T20Is to complete the series.
Aside from the Bangladesh National Cricket Team, Sarkar also plays for the Rangpur Riders in the Bangladesh Premier League. To know more about the BPL, head over to Betwala.
