It was confirmed that Banton will play with Brisbane Heat for two more years.
Tom Banton confirmed that he renews his contract with Brisbane Heat for two more years. Banton is an English opening batsman who scored a total of 223 runs at a strike rate of 176.98. He is also recorded as the second-fastest to score a half-century in the history of Big Bash League (BBL) with just 16 balls against Sydney Thunder.
‘I think anyone who saw Tom during his seven games for the Heat in the BBL would agree that he is a special player and someone we think can play an important role for us over the next two years’, Darren Lehmann stated, Brisbane Heat’s coach.
‘We wanted to move quickly and are very pleased that Tom has agreed to terms. He's a good young lad and we think his cricket will only get better from here. He's got his first IPL coming up and he's in the English set-up, so we know how highly he is thought of around the world’, he added.
Banton also signed to play with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKL), an Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise last December during an auction. He also told that joining the IPL is one of his childhood dreams. ‘When I was growing up, the IPL was definitely something I thought I’d love to do and play for England in Test cricket as well’, Banton said.
Brisbane Heat is an Australian men’s professional T20 cricket team who actively participates in the BBL. To learn more about BBL, check out Betwala’s page.
