Victorian batsman Will Pucovski has already penned a contract with the Melbourne Stars for the upcoming season of the Big Bash League.
Will Pucovski is currently in Adelaide with the Victorian squad. There, he stated that he is excited as he had signed up his first professional T20 contract with the Melbourne Stars for the upcoming season of the Big Bash League.
This has been a surprise to some as Pucovski has not signed on a BBL contract until now. This was mainly due to his mental health battles which made him focus himself in Test matches rather than the limited-overs format of the game.
Actually, Pucovski also used to be with the team as a rookie for three seasons even if he was not featured on a single game before.
Talking about his new milestone, he said, ‘I'm grateful to the Stars for giving me this opportunity to be involved in the BBL. It's always an exciting competition and I'm looking forward to the opportunity to expand my knowledge with senior players from around Australia and overseas’.
‘I think I was just sort of ready to take that next step with the Twenty20 stuff. I've played a fair bit with Melbourne over the last couple of years. Especially with how the summer's panning out, being around professional environments the whole time was something that I thought would be really beneficial’, he added.
In response, Melbourne Stars head coach David Hussey also shares how he is glad to have the 22-year-old in the team. He said, ‘Will is an exceptional young talent who has been talked about at the highest levels for some time now. While he's spent the majority of his time so far in red-ball cricket, we know he wants to continue to grow his game in all formats and we look forward to supporting him this season’.
The BBL is scheduled to start on December 3 at the Adelaide Oval. To know more about the teams and the league itself, head over to Betwala.
