July 2020 - First Week Highlights

Here are all the 1st-week highlights for the month of July. 

The domestic season of England is already set on August 1 after it had been postponed due to the outbreak of COVID-19. With that, the ECB is already busy with the preparations for the resumption of games while the county cricket clubs remain to practice some cost-cutting measures. In line with such, Somerset cancels the contract of Corey Anderson after they had re-signed him prior to the pandemic.

Cricket has lost two of its legendary players this week. Both may have succumbed to their illnesses but it is indeed undeniable that their legacies have left a mark in the industry. This includes Pakistan’s Khalid Wazir who died at the age of 84 and West Indies legend Sir Everton Weekes who died at the age of 95.

Meanwhile, Pakistan continues to get ready for action as their players have already arrived in England. First, 31 members of their staff have landed in England to prepare for the upcoming tour. A few days after, six players among the ten players who have tested positive of COVID-19 had already been cleared from the virus and are ready for departure towards England as well.
