Here are all the 2nd-week highlight for the month of July.
Popular cricket players both dealt with good news and bad news for this week. For the good news, Quinton de Kock was hailed as South Africa’s Cricketer of the Year for the second time. Aside from that, he also bagged home the Test Cricketer of the Year award in the 2020 Cricket South Africa Awards. On the other hand, Indian captain Virat Kohli is facing some complaints of conflict of interest which has already been filed with the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association.

As cricket sees the resumption of some games, some new contracts are being signed while some existing contracts are being extended. Examples of such include Pravin Tambe being signed as the first Indian in the Caribbean Premier League after receiving a contract from the Trinbago Knight Riders. Aside from him, Bangladesh winning coach Naveed Nawaz also happened to receive a contract extension from the BCB.

Last July 8, the three-Test match series between the West Indies and England marked the start of cricket after the long lockdown due to COVID-19. The first match had been welcomed by rain, having only 17.4 overs being played. The English team has also been led by Ben Stokes in the first game after team captain Joe Root had to attend the birth of his second child.
